Yep, this hit the spot

There are so many things I like about this. First of all, I love how this is a yaoi cliche that breaks yaoi cliches. Sure, we've seen the delinquent story line where they dote on the person because they feel an obligation to them, but this one does it so differently. It felt so refreshing to read for so many reasons. First, Yuzuru, who is taller and manlier being the uke. I love that. I always love taller ukes and this just hit the spot. I also like how Satomi wasn't a fucking asshole. This yaoi could have went down that road, but he was perfect for Yuzuru. He wanted what was best for him. He wanted to show him love. The manga is able to give a lot of character development, especially for Yuzuru. We learn of his past experience and why he thinks the way he does. Because of what he's been through, his mother abandoning him and his family basically turning their backs on him and his father, it has made him think that he's not good enough for anyone. It has made him believe that he cannot be loved, which is not true because even Satomi says there are many people that love him. It also makes sense why he's so tough. He trained himself so he wouldn't ever have to experience that fear again. As someone who is studying psychology, it makes so much sense. I can also empathize with the feeling insecure and having low self esteem so I felt a connection with the character.

As far as character development, we go from Yuzuru, being unable to say what he wants, to coming out directly and saying that Satomi is his lover. That's huge, especially knowing his character. he's the type that feels if he says too much or does anything under his own volition, he'll be hated and rejected. This is shown when he tried to muffle his screams when he and Satomi are having sex. He feels that he's not cute or sexy, so he doesn't want to "turn off" Satomi. There's just a lot of character depth here. I love it. Plus, Yuzuru is so cute. Everytime he blushed, I swear I nose bled.

Also, I also like the dream sequence chapter. It was interesting because in your dreams, you are able to do things that might not be socially acceptable in society, and even in Satomi's dream, he doesn't want to force Yuzuru, even if it's only a dream. He wants him to want it. That's hot. It addresses non-con respectfully and in a subtle way. I appreciate that. I also just love how Satomi could be a bully, but he was very gentle about it. He knew when to not go over board. Some might say it moves too quickly, but I would argue that it doesn't. Sure, they start dating soon on, but they go through hurtles as lovers and it's a slow process that Yuzuru takes to open up and say what he wants. I think it was paced well in that regard. As much as I love slow burn, sometimes it's refreshing to read something like this that explores the insecurities of the main characters. It's just lovely. I think any yaoi lover should read this, just because of how different it is and how it doesn't meet expectations. It exceeds them.
