The only thing going for him is that he is taller (or about as tall) as our MC, so no need for complexes. But yeah, unless the ML royally screws up there wont be much hope for him.
didn't MC already create the misunderstanding that he is dating hid "honey" [sister] ? so technically that's a hot taken MC vs. a hot & tall single alternative - that is already into her. (though I do prefer the MC personally, if we look at her viewpoint atm she tries to friendzone MC to not screw up his relationship with is "honey", cuase she is just a nice person that doesn't chase guys in relationships.)

While that is true, that wasn't what I meant by royally screwing up. What I was referring to is if he did something that would make her stop liking him. Him being "taken" just means that she is aware she shouldn't pursue or impose her feelings but that doesn't stop her from still liking him that way (in other words it confirms her dreams can only ever be dreams not reality but doesn't stop her from dreaming). She knows she shouldn't but it's hard to give up.
On top of that the more one hangs around the person they like the harder it can be to extricate themselves from the free fall of falling in love and move on. Meaning it is not simple for her to consider others as she would still be comparing them to the original guy (which is exactly what she just did) - and through the rose coloured glasses of love that gives them little hope in beating the original interest.
So while the blocker of him being "taken" allows the new guy a foot in the door, even if he gave a top class pursuit of her heart, it would still take a lot of drama before she can accept his feelings and try to return them. Unless, as I said before, the original guy royally screws up, making her love of him disappear for a bit. In which case, since she is free from the effects of love, she would consider the new guy. (And unfortunately, the new guy wasn't around at the time the "taken" issue shook her feelings toward the original, i.e. she returned to her state of liking the original before he could come into the pic).
