The priestess realizes that the boy is not possessed, that there is no evil spirit. The boy was abused, got scared, protected himself by stabbign his mother. When the kid realized it was NOT possession, that he himself killed his mom, he decided to die. But she stpoped him because she wants him to live, wants him to be healed of his trauma...so she's giving up being a priestess, because she wants to help the boy in the normal human way. She can't help him by exorcism....but she can help him by giving him care, love, support and giving him a reason to live.
at the end she is clearly alive she even said that her wound wasnt that deep
