I don't think the problem is the label, but just how uncommon it is. Personally I prefer reading more realistic works, I do like fantasy, supernatural, all that, what I mean is there's something quite endearing about realism in characters. Honestly I wish the bara tag would be used more often. (as in there were MORE, proper works to be used for) :/
What the hell is a real man? You do realize that majority of the men are not buff beefcakes right? And mangas are created by Asian people, so why do they have to follow US standards? The majority of the men aren't beauties or hot teenagers either, as they are mostly portrayed in manga/manhwas. And the fact that they are created by asian people doesn't really help your argument because irl Asia has all sorts of gay relationships and let me tell you they are NOT LIKE in most mangas! Mostly, these are made to be fetishized by a certain audience, which would prefer things their way, not the real way, like you~ Gay really doesn't depend on the nation, don't try to defend something you don't understand! @Pequena Chuu used America as the basis because those are the people that they see in their environment, hence the "here". They managed to notice there ARE differences between what 'is' and what is 'portrayed to be'.
If you were to stick your head out the window from time to time, you too might realize what real men are, there's no one word to describe them because they are very diverse. But as diverse as they may be, most fictional works don't get even close. I would have no complains if you were simply to prefer the genre, but instead you go all out and insult people who make factual remarks.
