You're right actually. His name is Koga something. However, before he was chosen for the role of male lead, the crew wanted Ren to act in the movie. But because Ren was already busy with Cain Heel and Tragic Marker, I think he had no choice but to refuse.
That's why it would be quite the plot twist if Ren were to actually manage to get the part.
