If I remember correctly, in the raw, it says that the wild cat gene was from the mother's side. His maternal grandfather, meaning his mother's father was an African wild cat. Only women with werecat genes and werecats can give birth to another werecat.

So they are related by blood? the dad is half wildcat half lion? and so each child got one half? I think that's what the mom meant by the end, which is why the dad wasn't too surprised?

And why did the mother have to tell Shiou that, and not his father? *sigh* the ending was rushed, but happy that there were crossovers.
