    To answer your question yes it's a vape ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

    Hi May 15, 2018 8:49 am

Vape is the word used for using a e-cigarette. Like how you 'smoke' cigarettes, you 'vape' e-cigarettes. Comes from 'vapour' cause e-cigarettes release steam/water vapour

ahahaha.. sorry.. I know what vape is.. Its just that, I was wondering why there's a lot of comments about the vape. I was thinking like, there's nothing extra ordenaire about it but yeah, when I read through the comments a little further.. I think I already figured it out. LOL>. Thanks though... :P

Yeah, I don't get why so many people are commenting that him vaping is such as big deal. Would they prefer if he was smoking a fag? In an ideal world he wouldn't have to do either, but such is life.

Vaping especially by men, is seen as being a douchebag, showoff and overall asshole. It is seen as the nice guy trope, but he really isn't...which fits Jiwon's personality (makes me think that mingwa knew about this stereotype)
"We get it, you vape"--- People who vape mainly do it to have an alternative to smoking real cigarettes but all they do is talk about vaping while blowing a huge cloud of smoke at you. It's a running meme.

Guess there are some cultural differences at play then, as I don't see it as being anything noteworthy. Smoking cigarettes is generally in decline, and banned in public places, therefore vaping is used by a minority of people usually as an alternative to fags. It's still means supporting a nicotine addiction, but it is less harmful to society and the individual than if they were to smoke conventional cigarettes. The only real criticisms have came from those that think people who are smoke free, especially younger teens might get drawn in by all the novelty flavour choices. Maybe in the USA though, vaping is associated with attention seeking ? (⊙…⊙ )

I can only speak for the USA (where I live now) and my native country, Brazil (still visit) and vaping is seen as kind of a douchebag, showoff, type of behavior. It's not about it being an alternative to smoking cigarettes, there are people who are straight up obnoxious about vaping and have a snob hipster attitude--seen as assholes. Also, the vapor that comes out is huge and obnoxious as well.

That's interesting. UK perspective here, where less than 20% of the population of the respective country's population smokes, and there are some strict but welcomed anti-smoking in public and confined places laws. Meaning vaping is generally seen as an alternative to say nicotine patches, therefore my assumption is that Alex did used to smoke cigarettes (or fags as is the term here), but is now trying to wean himself off by using vaping as an alternative. But I guess if vaping has a more 'cooler" image, or isn't just seen as a substitute for smoking people might have different attitudes to seeing a character vape. They generally are viewed by the public in the same way cigarettes are, ie negatively but are viewed as an addiction/health issue. Even in the UK adverts for cigarettes and e-cigarettes are banned, and rarely seen in programmes.

That was a bit of a ramble, sorry.

How enlightening! But seriously tho why now? I mean he did it before, but no one said anything?

Maybe this is a wrong place to call cigarettes as fags? Just my opinion though.

    Hi May 16, 2018 2:17 am

And actually Alex explained it before. He smokes outside (eg in DG's room) but at home, he vapes so that his home doesn't smell of cigarette smoke.

In the UK that is what they are called though, by everyone regardless of sexual orientation, age etc. Homophobic American's shouldn't be able to dominate everything.
