i came back here to see if the mangaka drew the next chapters, but guess that won't happen... some say this is just a promo for the light novel.

I've actually read the english translation of this novel. i also thought that the male MC is a D-bag and controlling, but he's not. the characters have more depth in the novel than in the manga. i posted the link here before..

Pingting went back together w/ He Xia. however, the duke of jing-an, her master became somewhat cold to her. it was hinted that He xia was a bit suspicious of Pingting. so she decided to leave him again and head to Bei Mo, where her friend lives. Her friend was the wife of Bei Mo's first general.

There she led the troop of Bei mo fighting against Chu Beiji and won. Beiji and Pingting reunited again. However, beijie's nephews (king's son) were killed. The poison used was similar to what Pingting used to make so beijie's family blamed pingting, which is why he treated pingting coldly until he realized it was He Xia who sabotaged pingting.

Beijie was very sorry and promised to start anew. However, the day before she tell the duke that she's pregnant, he xia abducted her and brought her to another kingdom as concubine (forgot the name). He took asylum to this kingdom when his parents were murdered (he thought it was the chus who killed them) and became the prince consort of the princess. he was extremely ambitious and wanted to conquer all the other kingdoms and then establish himself as the king.

pingting escaped he xia, and i can't explain how clever she was in all those chapters, starting from the battle of bei mo- to he xia abducting her- up to her escape and rebellion...

anyway, Chu beiji lived a hermit life in the forest upon news of pingting's death reached him. but surprise! pingitng was alive and was actually living with her friend and friend's family. She gave birth to a baby boy. meanwhile he xia has been killing top generals and his soldiers were abusing the residents of other kingdoms by increasing tax and if they can't pay taxes, they forcefully take their crops and livestock.

Beijie and pingting got back together. They teamed up and gathered other generals to fight He Xia. He xia dies and Chu beijie united the four kingdoms with Pingting as queen.

I urge you to read the novel- Lots of battles and exciting characters, betrayal, and blood! So he xia became the bad guy but you'll also sympathize with him because back stories give more depth to his character. it makes you understand why he acts that way. chu beijie looks more human in the novel than in the manhwa, and pingting is the one moving the story with her wisdom and clever planning.
