His mind reverted back to the time when he was 17, that was the time he had his first amnesia and in that mindset he didn't remember ren either. he only started to get memories back after he was much older and ren came to japan
OH MAH GAWD! You just opened my eyes to an info I did not see! Your right! It's as if this second round of Amnesia for Haru is like a double amnesia. It reverted him back to his 17 year old self, which also had amnesia due to the accident. Amenesiaception (⊙…⊙ ) I still wonder though if Haru himself realises that whenever the amnesia occurs its Ren he forgets. Does he realise it? What does he think and feel about it? Does he put a link between meeting Ren & his parents getting into the accident? I really want a chapter or two with Haru going over this.
I'm not sure as I haven't read the RAW but him being Haru i'll guess he'd feel really bad about it despite it not being his fault whatsoever. Fuck Asakura seriously
He does relate the accident with his trip to Canada though, it was stated a few chapters back. It's also the reason why in the first amnesia he didn't just forgot about the accident but also about the whole trip to Canada. Aki blaming him going to Canada for their parents' death probably didn't help either :/
Very true :'( Now that I look back, the first thing Haru woke up to was Aki blaming him for the accident. After that Haru was left mainly to himself to recover right? And then he ran off somewhere, when he was recuperating and Mikiko had to find him. It made me realize if Haru had the opportunity or the time to grieve over his parents? Or the accident in general...
It's true that Amnesia tropes are overused, but then again so are many other reoccurring themes. For me, personally, I don't care how many times a trope is used, what matters is how the author uses that trope, how they can use that trope specifically to progress or deepen a story or a character. In this instance though, I feel sort of iffy about it. I can understand the logic of Haru acquiring Amnesia, the first one was cuz of the accident, and this time round was cuz of the crazy lady. However, the reason behind why its always Ren he forgets is not explored, at all, and that frustrates me. I already have theories of my own as to why its Ren, but its all just my theories, I want a clear & definite explanation from the Author. I'm praying that the mangaka touches on this (╥﹏╥). I can't hate Haru fully, my feelings towards him is the same emotions I held towards Kiyomine from Komatta Toki Ni Wa. Although, Kiyomine was an absolute jerk towards Takara as he never once outright apologized for his words & actions, whereas Haru does apologize with Ren.
