in this case, Kamin is comfortable with a one-sided love, but because he thinks he is worthless (the grandma tells him that all the fucking time - she's horrible), he internally freaks out when people/animals love him back. he doesn't think it's real, and he doesn't think he deserves to be cherished. that's what is truly sad :(
Ohh nooooo. My heart breaks for him. Is that why he couldn't fully love them because he knew it was one sided and loving someone from the bottom of his heart would only lead to his heart break?
i feel like it’s more of being afraid to completely devote yourself to loving someone because you know you will be hurt in the end..its more common with people who have low self esteem or trust issues. i’m like that as well bc i believe no one would love me from the bottom of their heart so just putting myself out there is really scary because if i’m hurt i’ll never recover :( i feel so bad for kamin
