Just to share my two cents on this thread... It doesn't really bother me that people share their opinions on this manhwa and I don't think they should keep it to themselves or whatever, my issue is the massive amount of hate it's receiving just because everyone's butthurt about their otp not being together or not going through the motions the way they should. It's hard to come up with any actual real criticism towards the story in general, which by the way it has never been great or whatever bullshit people's been spewing about lately. A Guy Like You is average at best, the type of media one would consume just to chill for a bit and that everyone knows is one hundred percent trashy because c'mon, let's be honest here, everyone got on board with this story at first thanks to the eye catching artstyle and Jinha's sexual harrassment of Siwon, which no one really seemed to give two fucks about since he's the crappy main love interest and he has the right to whatever the fuck he wants and not be hated for it.

used to pay for this, but now... nah. So, I'm kinda entitled to criticise this, right?
Even so, I never say something bad about the Author, just pent up my emotions against the characters.
i feel devastated about how this amazing story turns out and many people too. as an old saying, misery likes to seek company. It's kind of good to know you are not the only one feeling miserable as fuck because of this.
And about people bashing the characters, isn't good that the Author can created such a feeling? its mean the characters was real enough for people to feel invested by it.t up my emotions. Maybe it is too harsh, but hey, who take internet seriously? I believe none of this would reach Waje. But if it did, Hope Waje mature enough to know that not everyone would agree with her.

Oh no no. You didnt understand at all. I only ship Lu Xuan with Siwon now.
And criticism of the story:
1. Siwon acting like 6 years old although he is in his 20ies
2. Introducing Lu Xuan for some cheap BDSM scenes and nothing more i guess (because Siwon and Jinha will be together...Its a shame)
3. Plot..what plot? You can summarize it in few senteces.
I think A guy like you is under average. Idk why it scored 9.5 on mangago.

I think there are different criteria to judge a story. This is still a BL we're talking about, a korean one too, so it's a niche genre and one that runs on passion. I agree that is far from perfect, exactly for all the reasons you listed. Still, it comes down to tastes. Surely it's not like this masterpiece of Welt Literatur where you quote Barthes or engage into a discussion to get to the real worth/value behind it. Context is important.
But I agree that having different spaces for discussion helps creating diversity and the fact that A guy like you is so niche, means you only get one place to discuss it and that can be jarring.

The fact that you are miserable doesn't mean everyone has to be, though. There's people who are satisfied with how the story turned out.
I understand your position, really, take Lover Boy for example: it make me miserable. But I never posted on that comment section, because it's common sense to me: don't post hate in the safe spaces reverved for fans.

Preeeeach!!!!!!!!
I’m getting so fucking pissed with the disrespect and nerve of people. Yes we are reading pirated versions of manhwa but that doesn’t mean we are given the “ok” to be mean and negative just because the author isn’t aware of the duplication. It’s still Waje’s work whether it’s here, Lezhin, mars, or 100 million light years away, it’s still Waje’s work, livelihood, and passion. The least people could do is show some decency and turn the hell away from this Manhwa and stop being so crude. I agree with the other anon, there are multiple users who claim to hate, dislike, or drop this manhwa but still come here every update to tell people “Don’t read it” “The plot is horrible” “The author is terrible” “Stay away from this” etc. It’s fucking ridiculous, I’ve read this whole thing and there are scenes I don’t like but I never whined about it because frankly, it’s not my place to or my so called “privilege”. Being a bitch to the author and Manhwa isn’t excusable. What’s more annoying is how common this attitude is. For almost every global fandom a vast majority of people (in the fandom or not) think it’s totally acceptable to trash something that they don’t like.
A Man a like You isn’t for us to like. It’s for Waje to let her mind run wild and if we like it then that’s ok but if not we can accept the differences and respectfully turn away like you would in any professional place. Then the people who do like it don’t feel put out or down because something they love is getting ripped by ignorant people.

Never say other people have too. But if you see one or two comments criticised the Characters and getting approved (many upvotes) then they tend to keep throwing hate comments. It's not okay but at least they draw the line between bashing the plot of the Manhwa and the characters, and the Artist. I rarely see people here bashing Waje, just her characters. She get it better than Sui Ishida, the Mangaka of Tokyo Ghoul when he's taking things unexpectedly further.
And if you read other Manhwas, this comment section is nothing compared to the Manhwa "Easy Target".

It is dumb to say people to shut up just cause you don't like how they feel. You mean to talk about your own hypocrisy first. And? People have the right to say what they feel about it, whatever you like it or not. No matter if it change anything in the story or not change anything. And they will keep commenting, so your comment is much more pointless then theirs.
I don't understand why so many haters are still following this story. Don't like, don't read, it isn't that difficult. This comment section is full of people who bash the story and characters left and right and there's so much salt I feel myself going dry.
What's the point? No one cares. Until there will be people paying to read this, it won't matter. You can shout all you want. So what's the point? If you do it to annoy fans, they'll just keep on paying out of pettiness.
I don't like many comics that are very popular on Lezhin but I don't go on comment sections writing hate, because I know there are people enjoying them.
Having liked everything that's happened until now, I love that there is at least one BL out there that is not worried about multishipping or hinting at a love triangle. While it's common in shoujo, you don't find this trope in BLs. I agree that it can be a very good thing that this trope isn't more common but it's just refreshing to see now and then.
Also, I think Waje has a story she wants to tell and I have complete faith in her storytelling. When she first introduced Lu Xuan Run, I was so annoyed because I thought: "great, another crazy guy interested in Jinha after knife guy" and now I'm so pumped that wasn't the case. When I think about the point of a character like this, the possibilities are endless.
Also, I wanted to point out that LXR's "character development" can't really be called as such given how he's still acting as a bastard. Will he change attitude? Don't think so for now. But I like the Beauty and the Beast scenarios so if Siwoon finds himself falling for him, I wouldn't mind one bit.
But this doesn't mean I don't like Jinha or I think LXR is a better fit for Siwoon. I just like the thought of Jinha having to come to term with the concept that violence doesn't solve anything and that violence generates other violence. He created LXR in a way and Siwoon is the one suffering the consequences. But I like that Siwoon may be the one to save LXR from his sadistic ways.
Secondly, there's the fate/envy stones, whose role is still a mistery in this mess. How much did they factor into everything that's happening? How possible is it that LXR's infatuation for Siwoon is linked to the envy stone? But then, if it is like that, what will it take for Siwoon and Jinha to overcome this?
