U sure you read the chapter or you dont know what honest means. There is no "honest in his own way". Your honest or youre not. He isnt.

3rd: U sure have read the manga? In chapter 25, when the ex-boyfriend showed up with her friends in the festival he makes her snap out of it by telling her his true feelings and how her behavior hurts the people around her.
He may look mischievous but he had make clear his intentions. If this is not to be honest, I dont know what may be.
And to finish (sorry, a problem with my phone TT) he is way more honest with his feelings than Inui and Akari. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍

He is honest and cute in his own way and, more important thing is: he is trying to be back with the girl he liked, he is doing his best while a certain someone it's watching from behind wishing nothing happens between his crush and her ex, when the girl had the guts to confess to him before buut nooo, he is just there being jealous and awkward and a total coward （￣へ￣）way to go Inui, way to go.
The fact that he thought she was the crush of his best friend it's not a valid reason to do nothing. Ryo and Yuna are already togethwr and even Ryo is pushing him.
