What is that, Harry Potter? "You look exactly like your father, except for your eyes. They're your mother's."
I like this theory. Ever since Rogi met Asami, I always thought that he's already attached to her. She's like the big sister or mother Rogi felt he never had (on mother, we don't know how he is treated by his parents, all we know is they just died, and he claims he always felt alone).
But I don't see him having any kind of affection like that for her?
I actually think you guys are a bit off the mark. Rogi truly loathes Asami, it was why he had no qualms about raping and abusing her son, who ro Rogi, acts and looks mostly like his mother. If there is any emotion that binds Asami and Rogi together, it is jealousy. All these characters are jealous (hints the title) of another in a way. For Asami, she loathes Rogi internally because he is trying to become another "woman" of Akitora. She would never openly admit this because it is not her place to as a Yakuza's wife, where having many mistresses or women is normal. Rogi is also jealous of her and anyone who can truly claim to be apart of Akitora's family. Rogi did try to kill Asami, remember. He can admit that she is cool but does not care for her in any sort of affectionate way. There is just not alot of evidence to prove that, and far more evidence to prove the opposite.
Rogi does not have to be affectionate with her to like/care for her plus it is still early to tell whether Rogi eternally hated Asami. Rogi trying to kill Asami, that was when they first met, of course Rogi would do so but after getting to know her, will Rogi still do the same thing? I don't remember anyone mentioning in Yondaime that Rogi had anything to do with Asami's death or that he is being blamed for her death.
It's just a theory anyway and Rogi could have raped Yuki for two reasons, either or both. Revenge on Tora for somewhat killing Asami and/or on Asami for being the eternal love of Tora's.
Your arguments are based on what is happening now, in the flashback, but there's still to be developed in the later chapters as they interact with Rogi more. Plus the scenes span from 2-3 days since the Rogi rescue from Handa, so they are still hating on each other.
I think Rogi is in love with Akitora, and unconsciously thinks of Asami as his ideal mother. Because I’m sure his real parents, who I imagine to be ordinary people (his dad has a rather rigid kind of job) didn’t understand Rogi and denied him, but Asami didn’t deny Rogi’s craziness and let him stay at their home. He looked so happy the night he stayed over and I felt it was not just about Tora, but to be at a place like home. (ch7 pg40)
Asami is a love rival and he hates her, of course, but he also admires her for her maternal tolerance.
I won’t be surprised if Reika was Rogi and Asami’s daughter. Either Rogi raped her or Asami let him out of jealousy (to get back at Tora) I think both is possible. (don’t get mad at me because of my fucked up idea, it’s just a hypothesis)
Not disagreeing with you but I think there's a hint in this chapter as to another reason why Asami is jealous of Rogi, where Rogi and Akitora bond over the magazine and supernatural topics, which she openly scorns. She's already talked about how she can only follow on after someone like Tora and here is Rogi who shares that same wild side she can't keep up with. I think that's what she fears in Rogi, that he can reach part of Tora she can't.
Okay, so I got a bit bored, and I was fumbling with this idea:
What if the person Rogi always thinks about is really Ane-san. He is angry at Aki for letting her get killed or something. He takes his revenge on a carbon copy of Aki, aka his son, and covers his eyes, the one part that reminds him of ane-san.
Lol, I'll see myself out ( ̄∇ ̄")
