well duh, it's been made pretty obvious the first prince is severely disturbed whether it from his own isolation due to illness or he was born like that, he doesn't really have a strong mind thus he's not really going to be able to treat others kindly, PLUS he's also constantly been attacked by his own brothers as well as everyone else who are trying to kill him..pretty sure that wouldn't exactly turn you into a kind person so the fact that he never REALLY trusted Ian isn't a surprise..which is why he tr4eated him like he did (obvs not an excuse in real life but this isn't some happy go lucky manga)
I mean if you fucking rape him, trap him in a room and kill everyone he cares what do you think will happen?
