(Spoilers) I liked it. The ending was open to interpretation, and from what I see, it seems like Arishige is questioning whether he can like girls or if he only likes boys. But judging by how he says “not at all” when asked if he’s giving chocolates to a girlfriend at the end, I think he just doesn’t see Mioko that way. He did say that he really only had eyes for Asaba after all. Again, maybe his feelings changed near the end and he might be able to like Mioko after all, but I like the ideas behind it more if it’s interpreted as them not getting together. Because sometimes even if you really treasure someone, you just don’t see them in a romantic way, and that could be the case for Arishige and Mioko. And the way they continue to be good friends really shows that being friends really isn’t a lower position than being a lover. You just value that person in a different way. (I actually came to this realization maybe a year ago after some relationship struggles, so seeing a glimpse of that idea in this manga was really uplifting haha) And this idea could also be backed up by how Asaba (presumably) rejects Arishige but they still stay good friends. The main focus of this story wasn’t the plot, but the idea that feelings are powerful and should be treasured.
