Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's because someone google translated it from Spanish (you could see a note in Spanish near the beginning) to English. Spanish has this weird feminine and masculine thing. So instead of saying "it" you would use something roughly equivalent "he/she" depending on the ending of the noun. Google translate probably mistook "he" for "it."
TL;DR Spanish and English grammar don't mix
yeah, that's what i meant with the weird "lo" mistranslation. it's been a while since i've taken spanish but you could use that for it/he depending on the situation, right? in any case, it was shoddily done.
