I like how honest you are and I think it depends on the each reader whether Tsukasa and Makino are compatible.
For me, I've watched the Korean, Japanese and Chinese (2018) series before I read this manga.
In all those series, I was always rooting for Rui's character although I know the ending. I can say that all those actors playing Rui were sooo good, they portrayed it so well, maybe even better than actors playing Tsukasa... that's why, my heart always turned to the second leads.
However, while I read this one, I found myself rooting only for Tsukasa until the end. I think the author really did great work in displaying that Tsukasa IS the 'main' character.
Although I know the characters development were so good for all characters, but it was especially outstanding for Tsukasa which I couldn't really see in dramas (not saying, there's no character development in dramas)
I can't really say other details because I don't know how to bring it out but, I'd recommend that if you have time and is willing, you should read this again after you've watched all the dramas...
Its great desert that satisfy.

I like you're review but it seems that (to me) the meaning was somewhat lost to you in that the story itself was about the development of the characters and inner turmoil (while also being blown out of proportion, I mean, what is being so poor and going to an elitist school I don't really understand the thought process of doing that) in any case though, I agree the characters are stupid, and annoying sometimes but also lovable but I disagree that the opinion of "I think ____ about their relationship" and toxicity and whatnot is bull because the characters feelings are entirely their own and that is also what makes this story so interesting and amazing. Also, the fact in the end they know their incompatibility and compatibility will always be fighting, they've stayed together through a lot of situations haha....as the person above (MoonCheese) has said, it really does depend on the reader if they think the characters are compatible when they read the story.
In short, logic really doesn't have to make sense in this series and I think the opinion you have is too drawn on that fact, not on the creation and development of the characters told from the authors conveyed point of view.
Cheers for your entheusiasm tho xD you stated everything I'm sure most people have thought but despite that people read it to the end because it is good to read. Your opinion is your own too. I don't mean to rag on your message. .-. xD
I completely, understand your comment. I actually really appreciate the feedback! I recently reread the manga just to see if I could get a different point of view from it this time around. Although I still think the relationship had toxic issues, I do see what you meant about the characters thoughts being their own. Would I have done what the main character did? Absolutely not, but the creative aspect of the story is what made the main character so interesting, especially considering her personality. Once again, thank you for your insight! (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
I only finished it cause I was too far in to just stop. I stopped rooting for her and doumyouji after he slapped her the first time, AND I was livid when he called her a skank. HE Calle her a bitch too many times, (one too many), and overall? Its abusive. His 'violent' behavior was gross and sure he 'changed' but my gosh girl your standards are low! SO what if he has money? SO what if he 'means well', she was undecicive on what guy she wanted, and kissing Rui was NOT cool. She hella dumb for that. all logic is lost in this story but overall, im just glad its over. I want to watch the Korean drama just to compare it to this story. I'm not trying to down on the author or anything, kudos to him or her for writing and finishing a fluid story. I know some people are like 'don't like don't read' thats not the case this time. this time I just genuinely feel like they're no good for each other. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
