It was background on the girlfriend, Jang Mi. They just cut to a scene about Jae Hee after it was over.
It was basically I think to help us understand why Jang Mi felt sympathy for Jae Hee.
Thank toy for that I was kinda lost there but, they do look to much alike.

The friend and the girlfriend look tooooo much alike! I thought this was a background on the girlfriend. I mean, at least give them different hair colors and get rid of the side burns, geez -_-
