I bought the book but the audiobook is in youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9g-Ig1-Wxk
The movie is in theaters right now. I don't think you can find it online yet.
The book was really beautiful and the movie reviews are also really good with oscar nominations for it. I am planning to go watch the movie tomorrow. I am so pumped! (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
Quite the SPOILER:
Oliver was in an on again off again relationship before he came to Italy. This was only 5 weeks together. He also says how if he parents knew about this affair he would be institutionalized. With the settings in the 1980s, its not hard to understand he went back to his life and got married. Though that knowledge didn't stop me from being heartbroken. ╥﹏╥
I just watched the movie and I was really disappointed in Oliver, their love should’ve meant more to him, and I kept waiting after credits for him to come and tell Elio it was all a joke. So angry right now.
Lol Elio looked creepy at the end when he smiled through his tears, I keep thinking theres a part 2 where he murders somebody
hahaha. Your comment is understandable. I just watched the movie today. But I knew what was gonna happen before I watched from the book. I TOTALLY get your reaction about Oliver. When I learned about his marriage I was sooo mad at him too. But you HAVE to understand the time this happened. It was the 80s. Like Oliver said, his parents would have institutionalized him. Elio's parents are just great parents despite the time they lived in. I think it was just inconceivable for him to end up together with a man. But it still didn't lessen his love for Elio. Elio is Oliver and Oliver is Elio to them after all. :)
And the last cry in front of the fireplace. I get what you are saying lol. But isn't all unrealistic. Human emotions are complicated. The thoughts on your head during such times are all over the place. A smile doesn't only convey happy or c person. When a person has lived through similar deep feeling, you can understand it. I felt it just made it more realistic (for me). :)
Any one read the novel or watched the movie, Call Me By Your Name? I finished the book yesterday and it just hasn't left my system. It was just so beautiful. Now chasing the feelings I got from the book I will be watching the movie tomorrow. Anyone about to or plan to watch it? If you guys don't know about it then I highly recommend you guys watch and/or read it! If anyone already read/watched it, I would love to hear your thoughts!
