i started masturbating at age 7 after discovering it accidentally. i didn't know what i was doing, but i knew it felt good. i'm a girl, btw. does that make me somehow an "adult" and capable of complete rational thought? should i have been able to make decisions on how i lived my life at age 7? you need to take a class on human sexuality because kids will explore their bodies, whether they understand what they are doing or not.
and i knowingly watched movies that were for adults only (which included the porn on at night) when i was 9 and talked about masturbation with other kids at 10. that still doesn't mean a child understands the broad consequences of their actions. their moral and cognitive development aren't at a point where they can predict the effects of their choices. they only know the black-and-white morality of something = bad;bad = stop. kids rely on the people around them to teach them right from wrong. in this case, kairi was told by an older person his being with wataru = bad ("disgusting"). to stop the behavior, kairi cut wataru out of his life because he didn't understand doing these things weren't apart of friendship and he was basically told him being with wataru was disgusting. let's not forget, kairi was brought up being told he must be proper, good, and normal. if being with wataru made kairi a bad kid, then it would expected of him to leave wataru to be the good kid his parents expect him to be. now that he is older, kairi SHOULD have apologized for his choices, but he's probably rationalized why he cut wataru out of his life to reduce the cognitive dissonance of his decisions, despite liking wataru.
sorry for the long post. i just have a lot of feelings about this and, as someone with a bs in psychology, i get peeved when people overestimate a child's cognitive and moral development.
I felt bad for Wataru(?), because even tho Kairi started it ,he called Kairi disgusting and blamed it on him (⌒▽⌒)
And ,yes, they were kids ,but if they’re big enough to masturbrate they’re big enough to think
