I shouldn't laugh, but this story is no way original. That's a joke.
I haven't actually read Ai no kusabi, but to me, this is (almost) as good as Viewfinder or Scarlet Beriko, those are my favourites.
Definitely room for improvement, but I'm enjoying the manga, I just know there's going to be some sort of a plot twist in the end that'll tell us more about Yule. (Nope, not justifying him, I just want the know the reason why he's a maniac :3 ) I actually like his character.
Ai No kusabi is an 80'ies classic, one of my first yaoi, it startes as a Light novel, they made a couple of OVA's to sumary 8 novels in 1 hour (not bad given this... but not enought t explain the complexity of the story), they tried to make a Remake in 2012 but it got canceled after 4 episodes.
Now that I think of it... the story is mainly about the dynamics between the seme (a powerful artificial semi-human-android) and his forced uke (once a proud seme, now enslaved, came out of a marginal caste). At the time it was fashionable to write sciFy, and the author didn't want to be any less... basically a masterpiece, and it combines my favorite themes, yaoi & scify :)

I also like Yul as the antagonist, he is awsome in his evilness, also so hot....
I actually know what Ai no Kusabi is about, and yeah, definitely a classic too, but I'm just not drawn to the whole sci-fi story, really :( I really prefer either real life or a very well developed supernatural story, such as Blood Bank. But my yaoi preferences are Viewfinder, Caste Heaven, Ten Count, Seven Days, Leopard Hakushou, Scarlet Beriko, etc, you get the gist :3 Oh, and I adore Love Stage, it's just adorable.
I think I will give Ai no Kusabi a go, I like the fact there's an anime. And, yep, Yul or Yule or Yul-ah, whatever his name is, I like him :3 (Sorry, my Korean is below zero. My Japanese and Chinese aren't too sucky, but I know zero Korean)
I actually like this manga.
