If you want a more reliable ratings, go to mangaupdates. Since mangago is populated with young fans, the tendency is to rate manga base on the trope they like. Thus, plenty of the scores comes from personal preference and judgement not looking at the manga as a whole.

I say explore on your own, which is what I've done for years, but lately I'm looking at only 9 and above. Young fans have no frame of reference and no experience in RL to give a valid rating. most probably shouldn't be here, but they're not doing too bad rating the stories that are really terrific by anyone's standards.
