I am a MAJOR Gintama fan!
Heck ye man, made me cry in some arcs. ;-;
That's right! when you get to the serious parts they are really well made and touching
(￣▽￣) i cry every time, specially when a character dies because moving on with the story you can't help but love all the characters
I've arrived to the latest chapters and I am now watching the new season of the anime and i think it's the best story i've ever seen
Please continue reading 'couse in the end everything will make sense, the plot develops along the way and you will find that every character has an important role and a story on their own
And even if its a shounen there are not only oppais everywhere and it has really funny parts but also very deep ones
And that's why i love Gintama, maybe too much ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄

Good luck man in terms of the story. I had a hard time starting Gintama cause it's a little slow at the start. But then it just gets better.
ME. And I kind of feel you, among my anime-watching circle of friends, I'm the only one who knows it, so I was actually under the impression it wasn't popular before. Then I learned they just only know it's title, but never read it. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
