Sometimes the side characters are better tho. Should the mains really get the focus when the sides are more interesting? I mean Ryu/Chizu>Kazehaya/Sawako. I wish the author gave them a spinoff or something. :V
I feel u so much. I started reading this and Kimi ni Todoke approximately 8 years ago and I just wanna move on. Kimi ni Todoke got so slow at one point with the whole thinking about the future part a few years ago that even tho the manga already ended, I still haven't gotten my motivation to finish reading it back. Idk maybe it's just that the whole graduation and worrying about the future thing is boring to me.
I would be happier if they just focused on what the main character was planning to do with her life rather than passing the spotlight around to show what everyone's doing and thinking.
Agreed. I have no issue with giving other characters the spotlight, but the main characters are dragging, everyone else is moving forward while they are at a standstill.
Perhaps in some mangas that is the case (the author is to blame for that), and a spin-off would be great. But I started reading this manga for the main couple, not for it to change midway and focus on the side-characters and side stories so much that when the time comes to finish the manga, the main character's stories are left unanswered or have a disappointing ending; take "Bleach" for example, so many side stories and characters that the end was rushed and was an insult to those who stuck with it from beginning to end.
i agree.. i feel it would be better if Kimi ni todoke had released a part II focusing on their career paths instead of cramming all their issues in one manga.
For real, and also they could've gone for the good ol time skip that shows you what came to be of the characters' lives such as the one at the end of Kaichou wa Maid-sama. In my opinion, that would've been more natural than bringing in new characters so near the end, focusing heavily on careers and the future, and having side characters take over the story.
I've reached the point where I just want closure from a few mangas, this and "Kimi ni Todoke" being two examples. I feel like the story keeps dragging on and on, plus they focus too much on side characters (which is fine), but then the main plot is progressing too slowly.
The manga"Fruits basket" is a good example of balancing it, it was long, the progress was slow and they gave time to most of their side characters; but it was done in a way where you also cared about the side characters, understood why the pacing was slow at some points and you couldn't wait for the next development or piece of the puzzle; by no means was it perfect, but it kept me interested in both the story and characters till the very end.
But with these two mangas I just want them to end and feel like each had a point to them and that I didn't waste a few years of my life reading them.
