The notification system is really faulty in general. Sometimes, the notifications come when they are supposed to, and other times, they're never there. There are even times when it won't even go away. Lol.
I can't recall how many times I had to click on the notification, and it'll just stay there, giving me the "1". I would refresh constantly, and it would still be hovering over the icon.
That and some mangas aren't even showing in the update list, to name a couple:

I had been waiting on these and didn't even get notified
Maybe It's a glitch going on right now because this happens with my Google Plus account a lot when they don't give me some of the notifications.
