expiration date : today

i have never seen an expiration date like that in my whole life..i just see numbers..

The date was never mentioned in the story. Why would the author make it realistic? If they wrote a realistic date such as 15/7/21 how would we know what date the current moment is in? The author wrote it to tell the reader that the expiration date it today instead of writing something useless. It’s simple and doesn’t require much thinking, you know..
