Holy Crap

With the way it was presented in the beginning, the story seemed like it was going to be like the usual BL story, only slightly varied with a creative deer centered world. What stood out at first was the cool concept of their little world, but mostly just that the author even bothered to depict a world at all, even actually drawing backgrounds & details in it. Most BL stories never bother depicting settings but, as this story goes on, the author goes even further & fleshes out the setting so the readers get a real sense of their world & how it works! Like how there are little spirits, powers can be taken away, his father turned into a deer due to the mysterious rules of their world! That's damn great! Feels like people could actually live in such a place! Furthermore, the author explored such a unique type of emotional depth in the characters, specifically the MC. They even confronted the fact that, "yes this MC is unlikeable" & had the MC acknowledge it himself! Sousuke came off as a typical tsundere kind of grumpy cliche. Many authors like to make characters like these without going past this cliche and adding more of an individual personality leaving us to wonder, "what IS there to like?". But this is the first time I've ever read an author actually meaningfully incorporate this fault into a story. This story ended up being terribly lovely, full of emotion, complex thoughts from the characters, thoughtful back stories, and nicely thought out fantasy elements ( like his dad turning into a deer that was lit) and just felt tender & sincere. It was above all a story that did not want to settle for being average or plastic & had heart. It may seem strange in the beginning, & even has weird moments (what the hell was with him & his brother??) but is still such a beautiful read! Highly recommend!

This community needs more readers like you. A lot of them just whine about "light sabers" all the time and basically force their own views to others. They never notice the other elements.
