because someone more worthy is about to take is place (≧∀≦). Also if i remember correctly if they have the golden hair and eyes they have the dragons blessing, but there can only be one person at a time. If it looks like someone more capable with those traits comes along the dragon will side with them. because at this point they have already started removing his power pieces all together. but then again that is only what I think so I may be totally wrong

Its not because of his lack of virtue that he lost the blessing.because if so, when he was poisoned, he wouldnt have healed by the blessing in the form of an antidote.
Maybe the other commenter is right. Its about power. The dragon sides with the one with most power amongst the golden.
So technically, he still is blessed. But not as blessed as he was before.
I wouldve liked it if the blessing weakens if the heart is corrupt. Since dragons are known to be noble creatures ♡

it is just my assumption but misuse of power will lead to that , he havent used it in ill way except for killing the mother , he has always been feared more like used it to threat ppl , but now he USED it to kill ? ~~~ my assumption tho
we also have to remember that there is a time jump as well. So there are years between when the last time the king had the blessing plus if we think about how this all really started to take motion after the youngest died from trying to get away from the king. The king seemed off or different when that happened. I can't wait to see how it is is all going to play out ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
