This mangaka has the hottest damn guys. And she's done cheating as theme within her stories before. I guess she likes to examine how it happens and the jealousy/hurt. It is dramatic.

In real life, if they were my buddies, I'd beg them to go to couples therapy. It' s a manga, so happy-endings come much quicker, easier.

They are both wrong. So by the time we get to the end, both are on the same footing: they've both done something awful.

And considering that I know more than one couple that ended up happier AFTER they worked through the issue of cheating--forced them to decide if they really wanted to stay together, where they had gone wrong, how they could move forward, yeah, I'm a big believer in counseling and doing the work. Because if you really love them (and here they do love each other), it's worth saving as long as you can learn and forgive. They learned and forgave, I assume (not reading Japanese) since they are smiling and hugging at the end. And I'm not kidding about knowing these couples, two in particular. Years and years after the cheating, they are like fresh-love dating....they stopped taking each other for granted and focused again on why they loved each other to start with.

When I was younger, I thought cheating was utterly unforgivable due to being such a horrible and painful betrayal. But seeing people I like, couples I like, deal with it and come out of the other side HAPPIER and more bonded...I've mellowed on cheating as the end-all destroyer I once considered it.

But if my husband beat the crap out of me, I don't know how forgiving I would be. Maybe if like this guy I felt I deserved it, I'd forgive. But that's a huge thing...because it's on the spectrum to me of a killer. If you can beat someone that badly, you can also kill them. Look how many partners end up killing their spouses out of jealousy or possessiveness. I don't take that sort of violence lightly.

But both did wrong and both forgave. That tells me their bond was STRONG...and both had bad traits. No angels here.

You have the right to have your opinion and believe it. If couples can overcome having been cheated on many times, betrayal, ... good for them.I salute their courage.It's not my case, forgiveness I can consider it but pursue my life with this kind of person, it'll be a big no.

Oh, that's fine. I didn't say they HAVE to forgive. I'm saying that if one thinks it's worth saving, it's possible. Like in t his story--they saved it. But if someone says, "see ya," cheating justifies that. Beating justifies that. Hell, all sorts of things justify saying "it's not working, let's end it." No one can tell another person what to forgive. You forgive what you CAN, and what you can't, you can't. We all have things that just can kill love.
