When Minjae said the nickname is too informal..

I don't quite understand that part. Hyeongjo called Minjae sunbae (senior) and Minjae thought it is too formal for them couple. But when Hyeongjo called him his name, Minjae said it is too informal. I don't understand （/TДT)/
So what should Hyeongjo called him?!

maybe "Minjae hyung"? Or "Minjae-shi"? You just don't call someone older by their name in Korea, unless they tell you it's okay to do so XD
