YoI fans have a tendency to put it on a pedestal. Yes Victor is a sweet and wonderful character, so are the dozens of shounen sports anime characters who get the same. Doujinshi like this gets made for anything that gets popular enough. The artist just copied Yuuri and Victor into a template plot.
