Fun fact about this manga: the whole story is actually based in real life.. Ludwig ii was really young when he became the king of bavaria in real life.. And he was even considered as the most handsome.. But it is also true that he was MAD.. That is why he got the nickname "mad king" and even "swan king",it is also true that, he was engaged to his younger cousin.. Sophie but the marriage didnt continue because it was postponed and cancelled and nobody knows the reason.. And it is also true that king ludwig was gay in real life.. And there are proofs about that..and the proof is the letters to richest wagner.. Search in the internet if you dont believe me.. And one more thing.. Richard wagner is a composer..not a stable boy

He wasn’t MAD, he was more psychology unstable if so. He was obsessed with the fairy tail and fantasy world and increasingly withdrew from day-to-day affairs of state in favour of extravagant artistic and architectural projects. He had amazing visions of art and architercur. But because of his spending of his project and because he defied all attemps by his ministers to restrain him, they used his extravagance against him to declare him insane. You must remember that during that time it was really easy to be declared mad or insane as soon as you didnt act like everyone else. There is no proof that the accusion was correct and different opinions about his mental health still exist today. Plus the doctor never actually examined or never even see Ludwig, he only judged him by reports from others. I don’t think a modern day doctor would declare him insane.

Besides, he was actually respected and loved by many many people.

My boy Ludwig was not insane he was just eccentric and thrust to the throne far too soon. If he had a bit more time, he'd be a far more respectable king. He used his own money for any sort of 'extravagance' never the treasury. Also his engagement didn't work out because he met Hornig and had an affair before breaking the engagement. Then again, greedy people will always be greedy, they planned to overthrow him by declaring him insane (which he wasn't) with psychologists that hadn't even met him. Psychologists back in the day weren't like ours today, they were really misinformed about mental health.
He was later found dead by drowning in pond.
Truly there were no happy endings for people like us in the past.

true..its actually sad but beautiful at the same time.. now im waiting for the story of alexander the great and edward ii' s story.. since they were considered homosexuals in the past..but they actually had no proof about this.. but alexander's was actually pretty much convincing that he had a fling with a guy.. or it might just be that they were close.. i mean in the earlier times.. brotherhood was really strong before, especially in the greek era
