Okay, i'll explain. Shimojou thinks having a honest and normal life is boring and he dont like it. He loves to exploit the dirt and blackmail people and then brand them as low lifes. He hated kuze because he didnt have any dirt to hide, kuze's a honest one. So he find the dirt on kuze's father, bring them down, kuze disappeared and just like that shimojou became the student council president. Also, at rooftop before, Shimojou said "catch me and ill promise to save you from your boring life" and that means catch him and he'll take away kuze from his honest life.

On first chapter he met kuze on the street and brought him home acting like on a play of master and pet (but they both know and recognized each other). When shimojou learned that kuze is a cop (truly a honest life which he defines boring) he purposely leave evidences which will jail him too, he said its a wonderful revenge, and by that, kuze will carry the burden of burying him with his own hands (arresting shimojou with his own hands But kuze teared the evidences related to shimojou and said "i wanna be youre equal" and that means he'll step away from honest life and do something bad (exempting shimojou from the case/jail) after that shimojou retired from his bad life as he said to kuze his final words that he's (so their feelings way back in highschool couldnt be in the same standing because of shimojou's thought of 'not' equal., he is bad, kuze is good, now kuze did something so bad which is not jailing shimojou too/cover shimojou from charges he should receive and then shimojou's heart settled down, he got tired of living badly and he chose to live normal beside kuze)

Shimojou didn't take down Kuze's father.

    A third party did!

Shimojou had nothing to do with the father's scandal.

Hey Asdjkl! Shimojou did not hate Kuze. But, he was overwhelmed and frustrated by Kuze's appearance in his life. Shimojou stated several times that his experience with Kuze was fun. And at the end Shimojou stated that in highschool he either felt love or lust for Kuze but they were not together long enough for him to tell. And Kuze called Shimojou lowlife not Shimojou.

I thought that at first too since shimojou said he dont want/didnt liked that the other bring down kuze, but then he said he said itd be a revenge for kuze (which means he brought down kuze's father, all he want is for kuze to step down below him,, like kuze's reputation and classmates will flip and he'll be the president, winning their rivalry but being a mayor? son, it probably get too much and he forcibly withdraw from school because of the people who in turn hated and ridiculed kuze too, they brought kuze down more than shimojou did, and then he said he hated the others bringing down kuze's demise)

I said he hated kuze because of his honest and normal life, he really hated kuze at their first encounters but they later developed to be friends, one of them even confessed but the confession flew in the air like it didnt matter lol ( i love that realistic touch, theyre avoiding that haha but in some mangas, if one confessess, everything will change, for better or for worse but they ignored it lol) that was the time where shimojou is still grounded to his 'theyre not equal' mindset and hence did not reciprocate kuze's feeling)

    That's still not right.

A third party brought down Kuze's father. Not Shimojou.

Yes, when Shimojou said that he did not like that other people brought down Kuze he was talking about the scandal. But, he was upset that something so trivial (Kuze's father criminality) bought Kuze down.

Shimojou assumed that Kuze was stronger than that and that Kuze would brush his father's activities aside and move on.

But, instead Kuze left school and disappeared from Shimojou's life.

Shimojou was disappointed that idle gossip and the typical/uninspired "corrupt politician" scenario bought down Kuze.

Shimojou and Kuze's game/battle was a personal one.

Shimojou wouldn't and didn't involve Kuze's father in their game because Shimojou wanted to find Kuze's weakness and not Kuze's father's weakness.

Their battle was man against man and not man against man's father.

Shimojou is not the type of person to reach that low and weakly go to the father.

That seems to easy. And Shimojou likes challenges.

Btw, Kuze himself pointed out to Shimojou that Shimojou could easily to find dirt on Kuze's father to Shimojou when they were on the rooftop. But Shimojou ignored that statement and just focused on Kuze instead and finding Kuze's misdeeds.

Because their game/battle was with each other.

And when Shimojou said it was for revenge. He meant it was revenge aimed at Yamamoto.

Shimojou's revenge was on Yamamoto in honor of Kuze. His revenge was not on Kuze.

Shimojou's revenge was taking down the Yamamoto gang for Kuze.

Uhh you forgot the part which is shimojou is a bad man, in his present, his job is also finding dirt on such big people. (not hating him or such, everyone has kindness in their heart) there is nothing to get revenge on yamamoto at all. Shimojou said the head of yamamoto is interestead in ceo's son, that would bring yamamoto down (also on newspaper, it said yamamoto was backing kuze's dad its just his dad do suicide but they were kind of ally then) and that doesnt actually matter because from the first page, shimojou said he is just looking for a play thing., the yamamoto schemes is not really significant apart from jailing himself, shimojou was supposed to go down too, its just that kuze didnt let it fall that way. shimojou actually has the advantage of them since he knows what shit than ceo's son is in and then blackmailed the father.. Revenge yamamoto for what? Yamamoto didnt hurt him or kuze at all.. All this plot is actually them chasing each other but it didnt matter which one of them is leading in the run because in their heart their aiming to be equal.. They want to run side by side.

I really love this psychological plot, its my fave plot of mangas xD

Ahh i clicked post accidentally, im gonna say that that was the reason why i believed shimojou's the culprit in kuze's father demise but shimojou might not be the one too,, it is not clear on that part because one of the evidence was on flash back and one from the present, just 2 page and its not shown at all, it leave us thinking so i arranged it based on the plot line

My Name Here October 16, 2017 1:41 pm

    No.

    1) Kuze stated that Shimojou only went after bad people.

Yes, Kuze father is bad, but Kuze is not. If Shimojou wanted Kuze, he would have went after Kuze and not his father.

    2) You are confusing highschool Shimojou with adult Shimojou.

Highschool Shimojou never actually blackmailed anyone (he just gather the evidence), the other party always did what he want out of personal guilt.

    Adult Shimojou blackmails people.

If there was nothing to go after Yamamoto for then why was adult Kuze still be on the case!

Yes, the newspaper is there, but it signifies why Shimojou wanted revenge on the Yamamoto group and it in no way signifies that Shimojou blackmailed Kuze's father. This is why Shimojou kept the newspaper!

When Shimojou stated that Kuze finally got revenge, Shimojou was stating that Kuze finally got his revenge on the Yamamoto group!

Btw, there is a chapter 4 . If what you said actually happened, then Kuze or Shimojou would have to bring it up in chapter 4. Especially since there is a flashback. Let's see if they do. (๑❛ᴗ❛๑)

Hey Asdjkl! Hate still does not fit in this situation. Your word choice is misguided. Let’s say that Shimojou “hated Kuze’s honest and normal life” (Which is true, Shimojou hated Kuze’s lifestyle because Shimojou thought that Kuze was capable of more in life, and everyone was bringing down Kuze’s potential with their mundane selves, and Shimojou thought that Kuze deserved more in life). But Shimojou hating Kuze’s “honest and normal life” is not the same thing as Shimojou hating Kuze. Shimojou was intrigued by Kuze and excited by the challenge that Kuze bought to Shimojou’s life. Never did Shimojou or the author state or implicitly imply that Shimojou hated Kuze. Yes, at first they liked the challenge of each other (but at this point they were already attracted to each other, but they did not hate each other), then they became friends, and then they realized that it was either love or lust one or both were feeling. But, it was not hate. Never did they feel hate for each other.

Also, I agree with My Name Here. Plus, if Shimojou had anything to do with the blackmail, then Shimojou would inform Kuze of Shimojou’s victory. Shimojou would not do something to defeat Kuze, but not tell Kuze about it or not point out his own (Shimojou’s) victory. Shimojou would totally blow his own horn. Also, why would Kuze stay with Shimojou if he blackmailed Kuze’s father? Kuze would not stay with someone (or even love someone) who dirtiness (who was dirty enough to) led to his father’s death. Why would Kuze put away Yamamoto due to Yamamoto’s role in Kuze’s father’s death, but not put away Shimojou due to Shimojou’s role in Kuze’s father’s death? Kuze loves Shimojou, but not that much. And that would be pretty hard to forgive. Shimojou’s and Kuze’s relationship is about lifting each other up (although in a twisted way) and that (blackmailing Kuze's father to the extreme that Kuze's father decided to commits suicide) is too much, that is more of putting each other down than pulling each other up. Shimojou would not do that, especially to Kuze. And what Kuze loves about Shimojou is that Shimojou is savable and Kuze knows that even Shimojou has limits to what he is willing to do. That's what made Shimojou stand out to Kuze (Shimojou's ability to play on the line, but not fully cross it).

Idk where the other insights came from.. But when i said hated i said on first encounters and later become friends dont try to refreshen their bond.. Its kind of messy with a rivalry but with love and acceptance.. They love what each other are on subconscious but they didnt narrate the manga like that.. I liked that it avoided the romantic way of compromising and giving in to love.. Please dont justify it like that, it might be the truth but the author didnt even narrate it that way.. And dont stitch up what i said.. I said "shimoujou made kuze's father fall "that made kuze's father suicide" (that with the hyphen is on another sentence/or understanding.. I clearly mean that the psychological damage on kuze's father and by the hurtful words of his citizens made him suicide..

Why are you coming too strong with an argument?.. If thats what you think the plot is, its fine, i didnt even said that 'what i said is right and you should believe it' i was explaning to MY Name Is Here on why did i think it turned that way regarding the revenge thing.. Plus its not even the main plot.. Its like about 3 pages sub-plot to create the tension.. Im out kay? Enjoy your reading.

Idk if the revenge thing will be cleared up next chapter.. It kinda show their hs life again but i didnt understand

1.Of course its just bad people, how can he get something dirty on good people? I dont think it mattered to shimojou if its good or bad people, he'll find anyone with dirt on.

And if youre right about kuze's father, he's probably the victim of yamamoto, or yamamoto abandoned them in the midst of issue. While i, did contradict that 'cause I thought that shimojou went to expose some dirt on kuze's father, because he want to bring down the reputation of kuze (what made me to say that it was shimojou that did it is because of that revenge line -in the name of revenge he sacrificed himself *along in the jail*, it can be the yamamoto but why did he layed out evidences for himself too? If he helps kuze in revenge for yamamoto that doesnt need to include himself a one bit in jailing *he gave kuze his file of wrong doings* .. If it lined like that, the revenge is for shimojou, the thing to get revenged on maybe, was not about kuze's father at all (or the yamamoto) and something more personal. I needed to make sense of the revenge line because shimojou throws himself at the jail for that.. Id like to said that shimoujou predicted that kuze wouldnt turn him over but shimojou's been so ready and dramatic to be put down in jail by kuze's hands.

    2. He did blackmailed people, you remember that one person in knees begging him, it does not look like a black mailing because shimojou is not coming too strong but it is black mailing. Most people when blackmailing does it because they want something in return, that the guilty will do whatever deed for the silence of that blackmailer. But shimojou is different, he is a soft blackmailer, he did it because its his hobby, he just like to see them begs and such (at this point i also believed that shimojou is not the one who dirtied kuze's father, if that revenge line didnt exist) He just likes to see them like a low lifes on his feet. He is doing that still, as his adult job, id say its just hobby and not his actual job but there isnt enough light to his occupation at all, we just saw him dealing with his blackmail victims but we arent sure its his job.

I did not confused highschool shimojou and adult shimojou because that both is his perspective, it is what he think and is the truth, because if adult shimojou changes his view of them from highschool, it should be sad, regretting or hurtful but no he is recalling them like how they really looked back in the day, he didnt change his heart all this time so both thought are authentic.

Kuze's chasing the yamamoto because theyre the hot issue, yamamoto is like, the controversy of the month, which is later proven and brought down. The story didnt even started with kuze hunting them down, kuze didnt really had a say in the matter.. Shimojou just gave information about them when he learned that kuze is a cop and then brought himself down too except kuze teared the evidences against him.

I cant wait for the infos from chspter 4 too

Hey Asdjkl! I don't know where your "insight" came from, but my "insight" came from the words written in the manga.

Now, to your last paragraph. First, let me point out that I have never been rude or mean to you in any my comments. I simply disagreed with your comment and your summary of the story. I did not personally attack you (apparently, you're the one taking this personally), I just debated your comment.

Instead of thinking that I came on too strongly, have you ever considered the possibility that you are oversensitive and cannot take criticism? Lastly, let me point out that this is a comment section. You commented, I commented, and so on. This was a debate of opinion and not a personal attacks. This happens everyday in life. I have the right to agree or disagree with you. If you have a problem with people not agreeing with you (or not praising you or telling you that you are right) here's two options: 1. Don't comment in the first place, or 2. Just get over people not agreeing with you/praising. But either way, please have a blessed day, Asdjkl!

And as you said, I'm out too, kay!

This thread took a turn for the worst.

You know, I was proud of the fact that we were having a proper and mature conversation without insulting each other, but Asdjkl and Anonymous, you both ruined that!...

And I too no longer want to continue. This is no longer enjoyable.

Everyone have a great day, an improved 2017, and a blessed life! (๑❛ᴗ❛๑)
