I remember when Sabrina started the fire, there were links to posts of some authors. One of the posts was so rediculous that me thinking god how old she is, really very immature of someone who has the gift of writing.
Don't blame the artists for this. All they're doing is working a job and charging money for a product. The chef is not going to be kind and understanding of your circumstances if you eat at that fancy restaurant and run out without paying. That's just how the world works.
Seriously this, the artists are already overworked and underpaid for what they do. There's no way they'll be happy that people are "translating" ( btw this was not translated by the uploader, it's a rip of the official) their hard work. They have to work everyday to meet deadlines and breaks, even for health, are not paid for. Robin hooding webtoon artists work is taking from someone who was never rich to begin with. It's understandable that they get furious when they see their hard work thrown out for free. It's like they're underappreciated by both their readers and their employers.
regarding the money problem, if people can't but a chapter, well they can wait right? its not like lezhin will go anywhere. I also have money problem since i have no work so i decide to be patient until i can work and buy chapters
also i think a lot of people may not know but there are already problems between artists and lezhin/comica about money problems about not getting paid enough, something like that, there are some webtoon that are in hiatus because of it.
When I was a kid I saved up my allowance to purchase things I wanted or waited until the holidays. I would wait months or even years sometimes.
There's rights worth fighting for. I live in a country where people struggle to get health care, food, and shelter without money. People being unable to get what they need to live bothers me and that's something I can fight for. But being unable to read a pay for view webtoon? I can't say it's a necessity. There's webtoons already available for free online. Why are those not good enough? Why do people need every webtoon for free? Why is waiting not a solution?
We all know the fact that a lot of readers in mangago are still underage, calling them names and insulting them for not using their allowances to buy chapters in Lezhin is not gonna help, and not all human on earth can afford to buy every chapter, AND all the people who said "you can't pay, you don't deserve to read" are really inconsiderate they let out words without thinking it throught lack a sense of being open-minded.
Saying that to a person feels like telling them that they don't deserve to go to a very classy restaurant because their poor.
We all have rights, acknowledge them.
We should know when to stop violating other people. And we should know when to stop abusing other people's generosity.
A few might think that I'm way too far from the topic being discussed, but no.
If you fully opened your mind and thinked it through, you'd understand.
I know that manhwa artists are very mad about the whole issue of illegal distribution of their work; and we do understand that if we were to be in their shoes we would understand the situation they're in. I mean come on, you made an award-winning webtoon through all-nighters with great efforts and all u get is your master piece being illegally posted.
But they do need consideration for their readers. It's not everyday you can get things your way. It is a good thing that artists get ton load of international fans but they do need to understand that their is a barrier in terms of money. So not everything they want can be followed ASAP.
Manhwa artists or any form of artist all rely on the income they earn from their piece but before they started, they should've thinked it throught that it's not everyday you'll get your pay. They should know the cons in selling artworks.
Translators shouldn't be thought as bad people who ought to distribute illegal copies. Treating them badly isn't going to help either; these people just wanted to share for sake for those people in need it's like a lowkey robin hood. They help people in need by sacrificing their own.
They shouldn't be bashed, no one should be bashed.
We just need a little considerate . Whether u be an artist or a reader.
U just gotta give and take.
But if things went downhill and what people do is just take and take without considering other people then that's where it's already wrong.
