Whats with everyone and their cousins obsessing over that series, in my opinion Usagi ended nicely. There was no last second deus ex machina, random NTR, or MCs falling in love with a jerkarse with no reason what so ever. All the plot holes were filled, and people grew up and moved on. For those supporting childhood friend or his mother, one of those wasnt going to work out anyway. If he ended together with the kids mom, the childhood friends relationship wont work out. If he didnt, he would be left out and we might get introduced to some random character that happens to fill that plot hole. She wasnt raised with impure intentions and she made the choice herself, so I am content with that.
There are quite a few other Hikaru Genji type of stories, so I dont understand peoples obsession over this one. The worst one in my opinion is that teacher one with 3 kindergarten kids. A guardian for one of the female leads is raising her as a replacement for his first crush who is her dead birth mother. Now, thats BS.
I agree with you about Usagi Drop: there was nothing wrong with it, in fact there are many, many classical stories with that plot in every culture: they go way back. It's a young man who raises a little girl till adulthood, and then they end up falling in love with each other and become a couple. I'm thinking of the classical French novel "Lagardère", for instance.
A normally created man will never feel that way for a little girl, but when she's become a young woman he might. Usually, in such stories however, it's the girl who makes the first step.
I'm not sure what Hikaru Genji has to do with this though. As far as I know, prince Genji had tons of girlfriends but they're all women, and he doesn't raise any little girls. At least, not in the book by Murasaki Shikibu. I' m not sure about what the mangaka have done with it though.
i agree there's nothing wrong with it...i just thought it such a waste. the author were raising love flag between the old man n kouki's mom.. and then... nothing... it also seem to ruined the story which i thought such a pure and beautiful relationship.. especially when they ended up together..well...its just an opinion
Made my stomach turn, it was clearly a parental child relationship. How do your raise a child and then feel romantic towards them. Made no sense to me- I thought the idea of a single man being able to become a parent without obligation was beautiful. As for it being a classic story I haven't come across any myself and nor Has anyone else i'm acquainted with. Yes he started with pure intentions but in this day and age it sounds like a classical grooming story with pretty drawings and heart-warming anecdotes. In the end it just made me feel like it was quite dishonest, because it was a slice of life of a dirty fantasy.
just praying and hoping it won't end like usagi drop (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
