Yeah, that time Conor lost basically everything. He lost Simon, he lost his future as a musician, he even lost his parents! But that was the only thing he could get back. I think that also was a huge factor why he decided to date Veronika. Relationship with a girl - that was his expiation in the eyes of his parents...

Veronica is the one that should be blamed. She knew Conor was gay but when Conor got hurt and in the worst state, she approached at him and tried to "fix"him to love her. Conor loved music, but he lost capability to play guitar and in the worst state.When he saw Simon signed a contract with others, I could understand his upset and pain at that time. Conor is human, of course he would feel lost and didn't know what to do was better…
