I got the sense that the parents weren't taking no, and this was his and the girl's (the omiai partner) way of showing their family they cannot get married, that is, they live together and say it failed. Cause both of them are in love with someone else.
What frustrated me is that they have to go through this charade, that parents can force this on people. I wish they'd say, "Guess what? Deal with it. WE're not getting married and we like other people. Get off our backs." But that's not realistic in this context--culturally and emotionally. So, they had to go through the, "See, we tried but it didn't work" scenario to satisfy parental expectations on both sides. I hope the girl was able to marry her real love.
I am sorry I didn't get it why was he living with his marriage interview partner or whoever it was, wasn't he suppose to go back and clear out the things between his parents .what kind of ritual was that to live with the omiai partner?.and did he refuse because she loved Akira or because the girl had someone she liked .I knw Akira didn't reply him .but I am asking the seme's side of story .?like I am really confused.do people have to live with their partner from marriage interview or what?
