That's interesting. If I was living in Japan, I'd probably just use host clubs to practice my Japanese. And also, I guess it would be a safe place to drink. How much did it cost you?
There are much better (and much cheaper) places to practice Japanese! First timers get a discount so it's only $10, but their goal is to get you to come back and prices skyrocket. I asked my host how much the typical fee is, and he said minimum $120... I would never pay that much just to have a conversation with drinks. I only went because I had nothing better to do and some dude approached me (they really do this lmao) so I figured I'd try it once XD
$120? Nah. They are tripping. Do you know how much good food I could buy for $120? Hard pass.
I had to designate a guy and everything. They really do follow up with messaging afterwards. It was an interesting but super awkward experience, haha. It's cool that this manga is realistic about alcohol consumption and all that.
