reading yaoi is fine as long as you are of the right age. there should only be a problem reading yaoi if you are underaged since smut is something that is for adults to enjoy not for kids in the middle of character/body development.
it's a gross misconception to say that as you get old you can't read it anymore.

Some yaoi is porn. People make lists on here of the stuff that is essentially just that. If you want to see straight up porn for comparison, read some hentai. You'll feel like the yaoi you like is tamer after that.
