
That's not true at all.
There are some people out there who purposefully act in certain ways, usually as if they are awkward or not good with social cues or events. They use that as a cover to get away with doing things they know is wrong such as sexual harassment, invading your space, getting too touchy with you, and so on.
So yes, while a good portion of people who are genuinely awkward are just that, there are also many who are not.
It's not fair for the former to be treated badly but the latter has made it so the negative association of "awkward people are just acting like that to make people uncomfortable" stick and it sucks.
Why do people think awkward people are just acting like that to make people uncomfortable?? Like, why the fuck would I want people to feel that way?! I'm just awkward and that's that.
