Divorce isn't as easy as you think. Also money is always involved. Paying a lawyer and such. But that's not the point. If you got nobody to turn to all they can think about is wanting to dissappear. Being mentally broken they can't think straight. Some things you just can't do it alone. There may be some who can, but not everyone has a strong will and mind.

Imagine that for years someone tells you that you are useless, you do not deserve to live, you deserve to be punched, you wanted that someone to hit you, etc. The abuser will make you believe that you can't live without him because you are not capable. These women are broken mentally. A divorce is not an option because they are afraid.

NP. My English not always that perfect either. And I used to think like you long time ago, but I heard so many true life stories that it changed my view of seeing things. That not everything can have an easy exit.
There are even couples living with each other that never even got married, but still has a kid together. Domestic abuse still can occur.
But the woman are frozen by fear that they never even think of running away. Brainwashed by their partner.
Only those with a strong mind will run away from them before it getting worse.
