Oh well.....

Kirino's ending was so frustrating like ? (╯°Д °)╯╧╧ He knows he is gay but decides to marry and have a kid just to make his stupid mom happy? Tsk, she's not a real mother. Now, because of her he will never be truely happy. He's going to carry that teacher's fake smile for the rest of his life.....I just want a sequel about him meeting a guy and falling in love with him not caring about his mother's selfish feelings and being finally happy. I also wanted the teacher to have an happy ending as well.(/TДT)/

If it helps, I don't feel his smile was fake like the teacher, I think is more like a different kind of happiness, maybe we don't understand but, perhaps family is more important to him. Of course, is not a perfect ending but I don't think is tragic, just kinda bittersweet.

I feel that he IS happy tho. And wishing to make your parent happy is not a bad thing. Altho you know I was angry as fudge at his mom's reaction when she found out. That still doesn't detract the fact that his mother's smile is important to him. Even when sometimes your parents' unhappiness isn't your responsibility.

honestly if we were to read into it,i think happiness for kirino is probably when his mom is happy although its sad thats the way life i sometimes

Agreed with everyone here. I think Kirino is happy. His mom has apologized, has tried to understand him, and has tried to accept his choice in life, so when he decides to have a happy family with a wife and kids, it's really his choice. Hopefully he will have a truly happy life until the end.

I think he's not happy, he changed his mind because his mother collapsed. And I'm sure he met the wife in an omai, without love. Maybe not, but that's what I suspect. Think about it, the type of man who attracted him was very masculine, no features of girl or anything feminine, he wanted a real man and not a woman. He wanted to be the woman. But had to fuck and make the mother happy because he felt guilty of making her unhappy ┗( T﹏T )┛ is a sad ending

Differents perceptions, I guess. We can make up theories about how is his wife and his life, but is open to interpretation. Maybe his happines don't come for his wife but from his mother and his childrens. Maybe he is fine with his wife, we don't really know. No everything is about sex. I like to think that he, at least, enjoys the path. It is the best option? Of course not. But, in real life, nobody has a perfect ending, not even you or me. We just try to be happy the way we can.

But this is not about sex. Is about sexual preference. If you are a boy and you like girls, you want to kiss a girl and not a boy. If he likes boys then he just wants to kiss a boy, you can not change a person's preferences. It is natural. And having wife or children will not change his preferences. He may love his children but that does not mean that he is happy. He forced himself to hide his true nature, and I believe that someone who does that can not be happy. Sorryyy, I'm a stubborn XD

The sex part was just an example XD. Of course, is about sexual preference. My english is not perfect XD What I was trying to say is that happiness is a very vague concept, that can be applied in a lot of ways. He cannot be happy with his wife or his sexuality, but maybe he can be happy with his childrens, his mother, his family, his work. Like I say in another post, is not god to reduce such a great manga to a "happy" or "sad" ending. I think the message is more bigger that that. If he follow Mishima path, he will really be happy being apart of his mom?
Also, like you say, "he may love his children but that does not mean that he is happy" but that doesn't mean he is "unhappy" either. Is about perception, and society. Sexual preference is a part of life and also work, family, love, friends, etc. That's way he make that decision. Sorry but I'm a stubborn too XD because I´m glad I have the opportunitty to discuss such a beautiful manga XD

I think the most genuine form of happiness is being your whole true self. not trying to pretend to be someone else to please others. the more you are your true self the more at peace you are. :)
but I don't call it a sad ending. it has a realistic ending.

True. I think the best part about this manga is how we have a lot of space for discussion. Is really well done. I, personally, think that is not a sad or tragic ending either. We valuate things in differents ways, some people think sexual preferences are most important, other ones prefers family, or priorize studies. That's why we do differents choices and follow differents paths. Even heterosexual people struggle to be free and being authentic. People usually wear a lot of masks in society.
Of course, we can speculate about happines and such but I feel like the message from the author is very open and personal take. And that's why I love this manga ;).
