Woojin didn't mean to abandon him at all. As a kid, he blamed himself for causing Taemin to be hurt by his deranged mother and was taken away right after that. How was he to knoe he had actually abandon his friend? But yeah seems that something is stopping him drom meeting up again with Taemin as they grow up and that may have something to do with his new identity and other things related. We can only wait for a proper explanation from the artist (is there is any).
