The protagonist lied in the beginning about his dad. The truth was his dad had a lover that was male and he looked at him as his new mother. So he was raised by his dad and his dad's lover (replacement mom). The protagonist's lover was confused when he called the man mom because he didnt understand this, so he thought he was transgender.
