Pleeeaaase !!! Stop with the cramp !!! So cliché ! It upsets me every times i see the heroine drown ! because of leg's cramp you can't swim with your arms ? Ridiculous ...

    Having dealt with leg cramps before I can understand why she might have troubles swimming, they can really hurt to the point of making a person unable to move until the pain passes.
    Now, this doesn't change the fact that it is cliche, but it explains why she may not have been able to use her arms to swim or float.

    I agree with Silver Wolf. Leg cramps hurts like hell and is very difficult to swim or even float in these situations. But ok I also agree that it's very cliché.
