That's in the anime. The manga hasn't shown anything about Haine's past with Viktor. I highly doubt it'll be something as simple as the anime, but hey if it is, welp that's kinda disappointing in a way since he's made to look more like some kind of hit man per say who has killed before rather than just an orphan who happen to meet the King and helped him for a bit then went to jail for false accusation.

I think they just wanted to wrap it up in the manga and fucked up the story which is very common in manga.
