That's likely unfortunately. I kinda wish the author would change it a little. Like let him come back at least during their last HS year. It kinda bugs me that because of that plotpoint we may end up with a timeskip and no HS year chapters. :/
If Jian Yi says yes and their relationship advances somehow, but then he gets kidnaped again and goes missing until university (aka the firsts chapters), I'm going to throw myself out of the window (I'll be very happy if the confession is succesful though)
