Ron? You meant Ren, right? I think she's existing, just in another timeline where Char is sent to. Char really did dream of her, but instead of it being a dream made out of his subconcious, I think Char dreamed of Ren's alternative world. He saw her, something like he peeked through Ren's world while sleeping.
