I don’t think you realize how difficult it can be to get away from an abuser, especially if you are told and conditioned to feel like they are all you have. You can see by the last few chapters just how much the abuse had affected him.
Rather than a lover I feel that the Ike was in need of a fatherly figure, however was deprived of that and forced into a sexual relationship with a grown man, in other words he was groomed. He began to live in a household in which the only love he received was through sex.
I find you to be incredibly insensitive to call him ‘useless’ and ‘stupid’ because he can’t get away from an abusive relationship such as this.
