so he was really going to abandon Miyaji? He just decided by himself about moving, didn't tell Miyaji that he was being scouted, only after scouting was done? Was it really ok for him to break up with Miyaji?

    So, first of all, sorry for replying to your comment you shouted 3 and a half years ago into the void, but.
    As I read this (several times), my impression was rather, that Hayama "conquered" Miyaji with sheer persistance and had actually zero confidence in the depth of Hayama's feelings (made into a funny gag of "the one time I was easy was because I had feelings"), hence I was under the impression that he expected Miyaji to weigh Hayama against Work/House/Family and NATURALLY to stay. No way, that he was gonna abandon everything to follow him. Which is why he scoffed at Hayama's bland reaction (who hadn't processed this in any shape or form, yet). And he was cruelly testing this by putting himself out there with the "It's ok to break up"-line. Which is why he needed a run to get through his own murky feelings, which gave both time to think (and one to dig a tiny grave).
